What people said about working with us

I feel the group gained so much more doing the development with your input than we would ever have achieved alone. I have certainly learned new skills and revitalized my leadership and team development.

Head of Medicines Optimisation (Salford), NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care
Su, Louise and Claire did fantastic work with us during lockdown to help reconnect as a team and to support us to develop our strategy for the post-COVID world. They worked with the team to formulate and approach that worked virtually and helped us to keep up momentum between sessions. The team really valued the approach and we now have some great new ideas for the future.

At the end of yesterday's session, I felt surprisingly inspired to re-visit some of the things we talked about;... -"Is this fun, if not how do we make it so?"... you do an incredible job helping people change their lives.

Senior Leadership Coaching - 2019
“I worked with Su as a coaching client over a six-month period when I was establishing and leading the North West Workforce Modernisation Hub. The coaching relationship was key during this period of organisational change for me and my team. Through constructive challenge, I was able to explore how my role as a leader needed to change as we established the new service. I found creating the time and space to reflect both increased my self-awareness and resilience. I would have no hesitation in recommended Su as a coach.”

“Su is a fantastic coach who helped me work through a range of career options. She has a friendly and engaging approach whilst remaining incredibly professional at all times. She combines warmth and empathy with the right amount of challenge and input, acting as a catalyst so I gained deeper understanding of my own strengths and development needs over the course of my sessions.”

“I have been working with Su over a number of years and I have found her to be an invaluable source of support as a coach. One of the main things about Su's practice is that she challenges me to think differently, sometimes out of my comfort zone, whilst creating a supportive and positive environment throughout. I always come away from our sessions with more insight into my own behaviours and with real clarity of goals and next steps” The sessions that Su facilitates with me are always different and I've benefitted from the wide variety of techniques that she uses. I feel all the approaches she uses are considered and thought out while we are in the session itself, rather than planned, which adds real value to the experience. Su holds me to account and asks the right questions at the right time – allowing me the space to consider my responses and what it means to me. Su’s support is something that I really value and I look forward to our sessions, mainly because they feel like true developmental conversations from someone who really knows her practice."

"I approached People and Change Ltd (PACE) because they had a strong track record in team and Board development work with the NHS North West Leadership Academy and had the credentials and experience that we, as a new Governing Body, needed in the early stages of our developmental journey. PACE helped me to engage and work with the Governing Body members to think about their purpose and collective leadership role in a very complex health and social care system. Reflecting on how they need to work in a ‘team like’ way opened up a valuable and interesting dialogue. As a result we have a strong benchmark of how we are performing as a group, we’ve identified where we need to focus our efforts to work more effectively over the next 12 months and we have a development plan that focuses on how we work as individual leaders and a collective. What I really liked was their client focus, flexibility and good blend of business and psychological approaches. I found the experience of working with PACE to be structured, well organised and engaging. They were prepared to add value from their own experience, provide additional support and weren’t a slave to our original agreement by working with us flexibly. I would recommend PACE Ltd to teams and organisations who need a reflective space, constructive challenge and evidence based approaches to team development and coaching. PACE helped us become a better team by making themselves feel part of our team”

"We selected People and Change Ltd (PACE) under the leadership of Su Fowler-Johnson to design and deliver a leadership development programme for health care leaders in research teams who we saw as key individuals to deliver cultures of research and innovation in their organisations. The programme which Su developed with us was called ‘Releasing Potential’. It was a great example of PACE working with our core team to co-design and deliver a leadership programme that was both creative and provided opportunities for personal development and growth for team leaders and managers in research. The participants in the programme were incredibly positive about their experience. They gave really positive feedback in the independent evaluation which we commissioned. Several of the participants had changed job roles within 12 months of the programme ending, moving into more senior roles. We really appreciate PACE’s focus on engaging with us as a commissioner and the participants to ensure that they had a bespoke learning experience. They were always prepared to do over and above to meet our needs and we have re-commissioned them to work on other areas of our portfolio, including large scale Catalyst events which are designed to work with over 100 people from a range of backgrounds and interests. They are very professional, fun and draw on a wide range of knowledge, skills and expertise. Also, very important for us is the values of the partners we work with. PACE has really strong values, being always clear that it puts the client first. I would recommend PACE Ltd without reservation. Their work is of the highest standard and always exceeds our expectations."

"In my role as Deputy Chief Finance Officer at Liverpool CCG I was looking to develop a new team and implement a value based approach to the work of the team. I approached People and Change Ltd (PACE) because they had worked with the wider CCG Senior Management Team and Governing Body in developing the OD plan for the CCG and targeted areas of the management team. I had been part of this work and was impressed with the professionalism demonstrated at all times by Su and Claire and their ability to tailor the overall plan to the specific needs of the organisation. In addition, the flexibility that could be introduced at individual sessions meant that the direction of the session could change to meet the developing requirements of the group. I engaged PACE to work with the whole Finance Team and later with the Senior Finance Team. The work with the full team centred around the identification of values and objectives and embedding the ownership and responsibility within all team members. The preparation for the series of away days was clearly set out by Su and my requirements and expected outcomes were documented and reviewed post events. PACE helped me to define the areas that were of concern and to target specific objectives. The time that Su spent with me prior to the away days was crucial and she helped me to focus on the immediate areas of need and to form a medium and longer term strategy. I found that PACE supported me in clarity of direction and helped to focus on the real issues causing concern – the provision of an objective view at times! The feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive. They found the sessions useful in clarifying roles and objectives and also enjoyed the team building aspects. Su was able to strike the right balance between personal development, business objectives and team building and this was reflected from the individual feedback that we undertook after each event. What I really liked was that the whole process was flexible and could be adapted at any time to address emerging themes. Su was very supportive throughout the process and kept in contact outside of the formal sessions to ensure we were following up on agreed actions and to encourage us to keep on the right track. I found the relationship was a partnership between PACE and ourselves and that we had constructive debate and discussion about the purpose of events, aims of each session and on-going themes."

“As a result of working with Su I have gained real insight into my areas for development and have been able to build on my strengths within a time of great organisational change. Her approach and degree of challenge encouraged and enabled me to think ‘outside the box. Su provides effective coaching sessions without a doubt. I have found Su extremely Trust worthy and the coaching sessions have helped me to identify and build on areas of development. Since working with Su, I have also gained a real insight into reflecting on my working practices which has enabled me to improve on my areas for development.”

"This was my first experience of doing a 360 ... so I didn't know what to expect to be honest. However, the combination of the feedback report supported with good quality coaching conversations, space for reflection and working through the feedback and context was excellent. Su clearly has a lot of experience working with people at this level and using the 360 constructively which came across well."
